2018 Success!

We were absolutely thrilled with the success we had with our guest families.  We were fortunate to host a number of terrific families throughout the year, and every family left a mark on our organization’s heart, and for that we can’t express how grateful we are.  We are planning to host even more families this year in an effort to impact more very deserving lives.  If you know of a kid between the ages of 12-25 that would be interested in joining the Building Brighter Dreams family for an adventure into the outdoors contact us via phone, email, Facebook, or our website.  We would love to hear from you!

Golf Tournament – Friday, Aug. 2 2019

It’s time to put those golf skills on display at our fourth annual Building Brighter Dreams Golf Shootout at the River Valley Golf Course in Adel, IA.  Once again, we will be blessed to have some past families we have taken into the outdoors join us for the day, and we even have a special trophy to present to one of our lucky kids we had the pleasure to host.  The event takes months of planning and help from over 30 volunteers to help make the day run smoothly.  Spots have been filling up quickly, and 2019 looks to be another great turnout for the event.  The Golf Shootout is the biggest fundraiser of the year for BBD and we cannot express our gratitude enough for those who support our cause at the event.  Several people and businesses take the opportunity to be hole sponsors or title sponsors. This allows for a sign to be posted on a tee box or banners/booths on the course. We also showcase our thanks on our social media pages.  If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or creating a 4-person team to golf contact our Executive Director, Tyler Bass ASAP.  If you’re not a golfer but would still be interested in volunteering, we could sure use your help in any capacities.  Contact us if you prefer to serve in this manner.  The more the merrier!

Summer Habitat Work

Hard work in the summer greatly increases harvest chances in the fall and spring. The Land Management Committee has been hard at work putting in the effort to make 2019 our best hunting year yet.  Every year we discuss and brainstorm how we can improve the chances for harvest for our guest families and improve the health of animal herds on our farms.  We’ve improved both early-season and late-season food sources and accessibility on all our farms for our guests, and we feel confident it will result in more exciting encounters in the future.  It starts immediately after the prior hunting season ends, noting what can be improved for hunting blind placement to get more close encounters, which food sources we want to hunt and when, as well as researching the best food sources.  Burning CRP grass and timber allows for more abundant growth of the plant species we desire, along with providing more habitat cover for numerous animals.
